Hydrogen Peroxide For Whitening

Are you wondering if Hydrogen Peroxide is good for teeth whitening?  I recently asked my friend Michelle a Dental assistant this very question and I was kind of surprised at the answer she gave me.

Considering I had been reading about this supposedly at home, easy teeth whitening solution that anyone can do in the comfort of their bathroom. All you had to do was, after brushing your teeth like you normally do everyday, take your toothbrush and deep it into Hydrogen Peroxide solution. Then gently brush your teeth for a few minutes, after which you just rinse your mouth with cold or warm water.

Well, this is what Michelle had to say. No, Hydrogen Peroxide is not a form of teeth whitening but you can use it as that in moderation. I see the the confused look on your face, I had the same look, so I asked her to explain herself a little further.

Basically she said, you can use it in the short term only in moderation. It is definitely not something you want to do consistently everyday. So I went on to ask ,how often should one brush their teeth with it and she said she would only recommend you do it once every other day or once a week or something similar.

So as attractive as it looks, it seems that Hydrogen Peroxide is not that magic teeth whitening solution that you thought you had found after all. Maybe you should look into baking soda, I have heard that it whitens the teeth well too.

Alternatively, you could always opt for the many teeth whitening products that are already available on the market. Just make sure to do your research well and choose a product that is suited for your needs.
